Take Your Blog to Technorati

Back from the last few blogs I mentioned about joining blog communities and blog networks, and Technorati is on top of the list. By adding your blog to Technorati can sure help you to promote your own blog. Technorati has huge traffic and if you spend some time there commenting and join discussion it is likely that you can build a better profile, and at the same time linking some juice back to your blog. Technorati has been the most popular blogging directory for a while already, often carrying a higher PR than other blogging communities.

Claiming Your Blog on Technorati in Two Days

Since Technorati is like the authority of blog networks, the process of adding a blog into their directories is not as easy and as fast as other blog communities, still, it is not difficult at all. Your blog have to be verified by Technorati and reviewed before it appears to the public, and it takes a bit of time to complete the whole process. It took me around two days from registration to being able to view my blog under Technorati, where I have heard that it may take up to 6-10 days, (or even weeks) for the review to complete, and some said it is even longer for the blog to be able to show on Technorati after you have claimed your blog. That’s why I suggest all of you just fill in the application first, and work hard on your blog while waiting for response! But if you do it right as mentioned as the follows, you will get it listed as fast as I do.

Process of Blog Claiming

1. Get your account at Technorati and fill in your profile.

2. Fill in the URL of your blog under “My claimed blogs”, and then fill in the details of your blog as below.

Note that now apart from your original URL, you will have to enter your URL feed, which means your RSS feed. You can get a feed from Feedage or FeedAgg, I recommend Feedburner. To make sure that your application run smoothly, double confirm the feed and URL and make sure they are working.

3. Next, you will be asked to create a claim token on your blog. Create a new blog post from your blog by putting the code as title or content, publish that will do. Do not worry if you are publishing rubbish on your blog, it takes only a few minutes for Technorati to verify the claim token and once it is verified you can delete that post. After the new post is published check if your feed has automatically updated. If yes you are getting on the right track, then, click “verify claim token” on Technorati site.

4. Claim token is crawled immediately and you would be able to remove the post token from your blog.

5. After then it is time for Technorati to evaluate your blog claim. This is the longer part of the registration. Up to this part, you can sign out and have a rest. For me it takes less than 2 days to add adollaraminuteonline.com on Technorati site, maybe I am lucky, or maybe I have done every step right. So make sure everything works before the submission!

6. You will receive an email from Technorati saying your claim is complete.

Congratulations, your claim is now complete! Please allow 24 to 48 hours for Authority and recent posts to begin showing for your site now that it has been successfully claimed. Once they are there, we will update your site’s Authority once per day.

At first you may not see your site listed in the Technorati Blog Directory for all of the categories you’ve selected. As you write blog posts around those topics, you should see your Topical Authority in those categories begin to rise.

By then login and you will see your blog is added. Click on the Blog Title to see your blog’s ranking and work hard to upper rankings!

Common Problems in Claiming Your Blog

If you do it like the mentioned steps above, there should be problem free. Some problems get stuck in the middle will include: Unclaimable Blog, Redirecting your blog URL, Invalid claim token or if Technorati is unable to gain access on your site. Test the site on different IPs and computers to confirm it can be access from any computer is a must thing to do. Even Technorati cannot access your blog, you still want your readers to be able to!
